About this role:


We are seeking a skilled Senior Engineer - Mechanical Engineering to provide technical leadership to the platform subsystem and Mechanical Engineering CoE. The successful candidate will drive design and development of platform / underframe components and subsystems, chair informal and formal design tollgate reviews, provide technical solutions, lead FEA and reviews. This role involves interfacing with cabs, platform & rest of the subsystems to optimize the product for performance, reliability, and cost. The successful candidate will drive standardization, innovation, design practices and learnings.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Lead the design and development of platform subsystem for locomotives following robust Engineering design and development process.
  • Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory and Wabtec specifications.
  • Work with Leadership to shape technology roadmap for the team leading to effectiveness and efficiency improvement.
  • Mentor lesser experienced members in global team setup.
  • Lead multiple complex projects by adhering to Wabtec processes while meeting business standards and program / product requirements.
  • Influence the technical direction for Platform sub-system to maximize the business impact.
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated and utilize same for training and effort optimization.
  • Represent the team /business in technical matters to customers, regulatory agencies, consultants, cross functional teams.
  • Understand system requirements flow down to sub-system. Develop concepts and evaluate, identify risks and mitigation plans to address them.
  • Take the design through technical reviews. Document the technical data consistent with Engineering policies and quality procedures.
  • Provide shop support for in-house manufacturing and address supplier/field issues.
  • Interface with cross functional stakeholders across the organization.
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
  • Participate in organizational initiatives and team activities.

Requirements:



  • Masters degree in mechanical engineering from reputed institute with 15+ years of experience demonstrating increased responsibility in driving technical solutions and business outcomes.
  • Experience in design, FEA, and development of mechanical components, sub-systems for locomotive, rolling stock or heavy/infrastructure engineering industry will be an added advantage.
