Job Title: Music Educator

About the Role:

We are seeking an accomplished music educator to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of inclusive teaching strategies and be able to adapt their approach to meet the diverse needs of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create engaging and accessible music lessons that cater to varying learning styles and abilities.
  • Utilize assistive technologies, visual aids, instruments, and alternative communication methods to support student participation.
  • Promote music as a means of self-expression, communication, and emotional regulation.
  • Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other specialists to integrate therapeutic goals into musical activities.
  • Assess student progress using tailored benchmarks; maintain accurate records and contribute to Individualised Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and encouraging classroom environment; manage behaviour sensitively in line with positive behaviour support policies.
  • Organise performances, music therapy sessions, and school-wide musical events to showcase students' abilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's or Postgraduate Diploma in Carnatic/Hindustani Music, Certificate course in Music Therapy (preferred)
  • 3 to 7 years of experience working with children in a mainstream school/Special school
  • Teaching qualification or experience in special education (Preferred)
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of adaptive music education and inclusive teaching strategies
  • Ability to play an instrument and facilitate group music singing
  • Knowledge of Tamil language is mandatory
  • Training in music therapy or knowledge of therapeutic music practices
  • Experience with communication aids
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Patience, creativity, and a positive attitude
