About the Role

The Business Functional Analyst will be responsible for analyzing the requirements and requests from the Documentary Trade business, identifying and assessing change needs, and capturing and documenting requirements. They will analyze the impact of changes and support the business throughout the implementation process, ensuring that the business requirements are understood and mapped to system functionalities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Elicit and manage functional requirements in partnership with the Business Functional Analyst, architecture, and delivery leads, working in an agile and iterative manner to build out appropriate solutions.
  • Liaise with Product Owners, SMEs, and technical communities (architects, developers, etc.) for solution identification.
  • Work in a collaborative and agile manner to create end-to-end functional flows, document user stories, and refine them, liaising with development teams to prioritize and deliver against the requirements.
  • Ensure the right granularity of user stories by applying slicing techniques in scope of estimation and completion in a single sprint.
  • Provide needed clarifications on requirements to team members, working together with the Business Functional Analyst to manage requirements using Agile framework, i.e., user stories, and help drive the agile process forward by participating in backlog grooming, sprint planning, QA, etc.
  • Support the testing requirements together with the QA Team.
  • Support the design and conceptualization of new business solution options and articulate identified impacts and risks.
  • Assure that the Product Backlog Items respect the Definition of Ready before entering the Sprint Backlog.
  • Together with the Scrum Master, assure that a proper number of Items enter into the Sprint Backlog.
  • Support the Business Analysis Specialists, Product Owners, on the prioritization of change requests.
  • Outline business value of each requirement together with Business Functional Analyst and Product Owners, and continuously engage with Engineering, POs, and Journey experts to ensure development is aligned to what is required.
  • Provide domain and functional expertise as required.
  • Understand the vision of the product and ensure development activities reflect that vision into the product.
  • Work with engineers to prioritize, troubleshoot, and resolve reported bugs/issues/stories on applications.
  • Drive data discovery, sourcing, modeling, and analytics to support the creation of data flows and models, researching and profiling data sources in data categories of expertise.
  • Evaluate dependencies, interfaces, and specify inputs and formatting outputs to meet the business's needs, responsible for defining Non-Functional Requirements.
  • Code commits in the form of database insert/update scripts.
  • Contribute to Communities of Practices applicable for Functional Analyst/Product Owner Role.

You should be persistent in your drive for quality and excellence, architecturally minded with an ability to simplify complex activities, consistent in your approach to activities and tasks, an excellent communicator (written & verbal), an influencer and problem-solving person, and fluent in English (written/verbal), with additional language(s) being an advantage.

Requirements
  • 10 to 14 years of experience with exposure in Trade Finance domain related to Documentary Trade (LC's), Bank Guarantees, Documentary Collections, etc.
  • Understanding of the SDLC lifecycle and Agile processes, experience in writing user stories in Jira, use of Confluence, etc.
  • Experience in a Banking domain and/or related support functions, including understanding of products, business, and operational processes, with exposure to business analysis, preferred.
  • Working closely with Product Owners and Stakeholders, along with maintaining product backlogs and driving release content throughout via prioritized stories.
  • Familiar with Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
  • Ability to work in a Matrix organization with stakeholders spread across geographies.
  • Understanding of executing projects in Agile (Scrum) methodology.
  • Experience in conceptualization and solution definition.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving experience.
  • Ability to identify and interpret stakeholders' needs and requirements.
  • Self-motivated and flexibility to work autonomously, coupled with ability to work in virtual teams and matrix/global organizations, including appreciation of different cultures during collaborating and sharing.
  • Ability to influence and motivate other team members and stakeholders through strong dialogue, facilitation, and persuasiveness.
