Security Engineer - Container Expertise

We are seeking a senior container security engineer to lead efforts securing containerized environments. This role involves designing and implementing security controls, collaborating with cross-functional teams to embed shift-left security practices, and developing and maintaining security policies for container images and registries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive security standards and best practices for containerized applications.
  • Integrate security scanning and vulnerability management tools into CI/CD pipelines to ensure robust threat detection.
  • Harden container runtimes, host operating systems, network policies, and cluster configurations against misconfigurations and attacks.
  • Perform in-depth threat modeling and risk assessments specific to containerized workloads.
  • Monitor container runtime and orchestration logs for suspicious activities and respond to security incidents promptly.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, Cloud, and Application teams to provide training on secure container development and implementation.
  • Lead regular penetration tests, red-team exercises, and configuration reviews of cluster environments to identify vulnerabilities and improve overall security posture.
  • Evaluate emerging container-security solutions and stay up-to-date with industry trends to inform strategic decisions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience securing containerized applications in production.
  • Deep understanding of Docker and Kubernetes security primitives.
  • Proficiency with container-security tooling and vulnerability scanners.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD systems and Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • Strong Linux administration skills and knowledge of host hardening best practices.
  • Experience with cloud platforms and their container services.
  • Solid scripting skills to automate security checks and integrations.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS), Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or equivalent.
  • Cloud security certification (CCSP, AWS Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer).
  • Experience with service meshes and container networking security.
  • Knowledge of container registry management and image signing.
  • Familiarity with Linux seccomp, AppArmor, SELinux, and other kernel-level security controls.
