The role of Business Valuation Specialist involves extracting and mapping data from financial statements, tax returns, bank statements, and other relevant documents into valuation models and Excel-based tools. You will conduct research on industry trends, guideline public companies, and precedent transactions to gain a deeper understanding of the market.
To excel in this position, you will need to analyze historical and projected financial statements to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for further investigation. Additionally, you will be responsible for identifying and implementing appropriate normalization adjustments to financial statements.
You will assist in building and refining valuation models, performing adjustments, and applying quantitative techniques to support business valuation conclusions. Furthermore, you will contribute to the drafting of narrative sections of valuation reports, documenting key assumptions, methodologies, and conclusions in clear and professional language.
Prioritizing projects and participating in scheduling meetings are essential skills required for this role. In time, you will oversee all stages of the valuation project life cycle, apply appropriate valuation methodologies, reconcile value indications, and prepare and finalize the first draft of valuation reports before final review by signers and quality control.
A successful candidate should demonstrate strong leadership, team building, and people management capabilities. This may involve establishing and managing a team over time.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field
- A business valuation credential (CFA), CA, MBA, or other advanced degree or certification
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
