The Role:

  • Collaborate on custom WordPress engine projects (themes, plugins, internal tools).
  • Develop advanced Gutenberg blocks using hooks, APIs, and theme logic.
  • Optimize database queries and code execution for maximum efficiency.
  • Integrate with REST APIs and handle complex integrations/microservices.
  • Work in Docker/Podman environments (WP-CLI, container operations, Linux commands).
  • Partner with front-end integrators on backend architecture.

Required Expertise:

  • Deep understanding of PHP and the WordPress ecosystem (hooks, APIs, plugins, themes, Gutenberg).
  • Strong SQL skills for query optimization.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and microservice integration patterns.
  • Experience with React, especially for Gutenberg block development.
  • Proficiency in Docker/Podman workflows and Linux environments (WP-CLI, file manipulation, container ops).
  • Focus on performance: profiling, measuring, and optimizing code execution.
  • MacOS or Linux development environment required.
  • Good command of HTML, CSS (SCSS), and JavaScript (ES6).
  • Ability to work closely with designers and front-end integrators.
  • Awareness of accessibility and Core Web Vitals best practices.
