Senior Operations Director

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Operations Director to lead the commissioning and operations of a biofuel/biogas facility. The ideal candidate will oversee the plant from design handover to steady-state operations, ensuring safety, reliability, and top-quartile performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Commissioning Leadership: Lead end-to-end commissioning leadership, including utilities readiness, pre-start checks, start-up, performance ramp-up, and stabilization.
  • Technology Verification: Conduct diligence and validation of process technologies/vendors, including pilot data review, PFD/P&ID checks, HAZOP actions, FAT/SAT, performance guarantees, energy/mass balance, and lifecycle OPEX.
  • Digestion and Gas Cleanup/Upgrading Optimization: Optimize digestion, gas cleanup/upgrading, compression, storage/dispensing, and utilities.
  • Preventive and Predictive Maintenance: Establish preventive/predictive maintenance (CMMS), run RCAs, and drive reliability (MTBF/MTTR).
  • Contractor Management: Manage EPCs and contractors, controlling scope, change, and debottlenecking projects.
  • EHSS Compliance: Ensure EHSS compliance, owning SOPs, PTW, emergency response, and audit readiness.
  • O&M Team Development: Build and mentor O&M teams (shift engineers, mech/E&I, utilities, QC).
  • DCS/SCADA KPIs and MIS Reporting: Own DCS/SCADA KPIs and MIS reporting, driving data-led improvements and cost control.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Extensive experience leading plant setup/commissioning and operations in biofuel/biogas/CBG or closely related continuous-process industries.
  • Proven technology evaluation/verification experience (vendor due diligence, guarantees, trials, acceptance testing).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical & instrumentation (compressors, blowers, agitators, PSA/membrane, analyzers, HT/LT).
  • Command of EHSS regulations and compliance.
  • Demonstrated team leadership, stakeholder management, and crisp communication.
  • Bachelor's in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering (or related).
