Credit Risk Manager

About the Role:

As a seasoned professional, you will lead and manage credit risk management, ensuring timely collection of outstanding receivables, minimizing bad debts, and maintaining healthy cash flow.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting credit policies, evaluating credit risks, managing a team, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement credit control policies, procedures, and credit limits to optimize cash flow and minimize financial risks.
  • Evaluate new and existing customer creditworthiness through financial analysis, credit scoring, and risk assessments to make informed decisions.
  • Approve or recommend credit limits and payment terms based on customer credit profiles and market conditions.

Receivables Management:

  • Monitor accounts receivable ledgers to ensure all debts are collected in a timely manner, reducing days sales outstanding (DSO) and bad debt provisions.
  • Review and reconcile customer accounts regularly to prevent errors and discrepancies.
  • Ensure accurate and timely allocation of receipts to maintain a high level of cash flow visibility.

Collections:

  • Lead and manage the collections team to follow up on outstanding invoices, resolving disputes and escalating problematic cases to senior management.
  • Maintain regular contact with key customers to secure payments, improve relationships, and identify opportunities for growth.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare weekly/monthly reports on receivables, aging, DSO, bad debt provisions, and collection efficiency to inform business decisions.
  • Highlight high-risk accounts and overdue balances to senior management, enabling proactive risk mitigation strategies.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the Sales, Legal, and Customer Service teams to resolve credit issues and support customer relationships.
  • Liaise with external credit rating agencies and legal advisors when required, maintaining a strong network of contacts.

Team Leadership:

  • Manage, train, and motivate the credit control team to achieve high performance standards and goals.
  • Set performance KPIs and review team performance regularly, driving continuous improvement.

Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to company credit policies and regulatory requirements, maintaining a strong compliance culture.
  • Support internal and external audit processes, demonstrating transparency and accountability.

  • Proven experience in credit risk management, preferably in a leadership position.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
