Medical Data Specialist (Ophthalmology Expert)

The ideal candidate for this position will be an ophthalmologist with a strong background in clinical expertise. They will annotate medical data to develop and refine AI/ML models in ophthalmology, requiring attention to detail, strong communication skills, and adaptability.

This role involves reviewing and labeling various ophthalmic data, such as fundus images and OCT scans, identifying anatomical structures and disease markers. The ophthalmologist must adhere to standardized grading protocols, participate in calibration sessions, and collaborate with AI engineers and data scientists to ensure clinical validity of guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Annotation: Reviewing and annotating ophthalmic data for accurate and consistent labeling
  • Adherence to Protocols: Applying standardized grading protocols consistently
  • Quality Control & Feedback: Participating in calibration sessions and reviews
  • Collaboration: Working with AI engineers and data scientists to ensure clinical validity
  • AI Model Validation: Validating AI model outputs for clinical accuracy and safety
  • Patient Education Material Development (potential): Creating or reviewing materials for AI/ML algorithms
  • Privacy and Security: Ensuring compliance with patient privacy and data security policies

Qualifications:

  • Ophthalmologist (MBBS) with at least 1-2 years of clinical experience
  • Extensive Clinical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of various eye conditions
  • Experience in Clinical Data Review: Familiarity with medical record documentation
  • Attention to Detail: Commitment to accurate annotation
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English
  • Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
