Materials Scientist

A Raw Material & Sand Testing Engineer is required to ensure the quality of raw materials and sand used in foundry production. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metallurgy, chemistry, or a related field, with experience in testing and analyzing raw materials and sand.

Responsibilities include conducting regular testing of Green Sand, No Bake Sand, and Neno Sand to ensure conformity to process specifications. This involves evaluating sand parameters such as AFS grain fineness, SiO2 %, Moisture %, Compactability, and Green Strength. Additionally, the Chemist will analyze and monitor ductile iron parameters including %C (Carbon), %Si (Silicon), %Mn (Manganese), %P (Phosphorus), %S (Sulfur), %Mg (Magnesium), %Al (Aluminum), and %VM (Volatile Matter).

The role also involves conducting and evaluating Brinell/Rockwell hardness tests as part of the quality control process. Furthermore, the Chemist will support metallurgical and microstructure evaluation where required. Maintaining accurate documentation and test reports according to ISO, NABL, and internal quality standards is crucial for this position. Ensuring all laboratory procedures comply with relevant regulations and customer audit requirements is essential.

Requirements for this position include a Bachelor's or Diploma degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field. A minimum of 3 years of experience in foundry or material testing lab is necessary. Hands-on experience with spectrometers, sand testing equipment, and mechanical testing tools is also required.
