Job Overview

The reconciliation role involves gathering, posting, and reconciling payments received by the revenue team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strong understanding of insurance accounting principles and practices.
  • Monitors and manages incoming payments.
  • Processes remittances from applicable payor websites when remittance is not available from clearinghouse.
  • Reviews remittances for adjustments and transfers balance to secondary or patient responsibility as required.
  • Responds to payment application queries and collaborates with onshore team to resolve account variances.
  • Corrects keying errors as needed and documents root cause and discrepancies.
  • Generates reports based on department protocols and amends systems as required to reconcile payments.
  • Identifies trends in improved internal processes and systems.
  • Ensures compliance with defined platform, client, payer, and/or internal standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines.
  • Completes workflow items within set turn-around-time and quality expectations.
  • Reconciles payments to ensure accounting system reflects correct transactions.

Requirements

  • Candidate must hold a relevant accounting degree and have 3-7 years of experience.
  • Good knowledge of technical accounting principles.
  • Excellent understanding of insurance accounting and reconciliation processes.
  • Accounting expertise and working knowledge of spreadsheet applications and software.
  • Detail oriented with strong mathematical and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and reporting skills.
  • Highly proficient in common business applications such as Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, Teams.
  • Competent in reconciliation processes.
