About the Role:

  • This position will work collaboratively with developers and analysts to create and ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of database systems within the Internet Business organization.
  • The successful candidate will have experience in Microsoft SQL 2016, 2019, 2022, Azure SQL, CosmosDB, and/or Azure Database Management.
  • A strong understanding of database design principles, including relational and document-based systems, is essential for this role.
  • This individual will also be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, and replication in production environments.
  • Azure expertise, including identifying performance issues and remediating them as necessary, is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement database systems that meet agreed-upon resiliency patterns.
  • Collaborate with technical and business teams to understand and select appropriate configurations for their application and review database and query design.
  • Monitor lower environments to detect any performance impact as changes are implemented.
  • Utilize monitoring solutions to provide prompt alerting of issues and outages.
  • Suggest innovative solutions based on the latest technologies, trends, and best practices in SQL Server and Azure.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering, software engineering, information technology, or relevant discipline.
  • At least two years of database management experience, preferably with experience in Azure and on-premises solutions.
  • Industry knowledge of performance monitoring, backup principles, and oversight.
  • Experience in scripting using PowerShell, IAC (Terraform), and other relevant skills is desired.
