Senior Backend Engineer Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our team in shaping the backend of a live, regulated financial platform being built across the Middle East. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and extending backend services using TypeScript/Node.js, designing and maintaining PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and queries, integrating with third-party APIs securely (OAuth2, JWT), and collaborating via GitHub and CI/CD workflows.

About the Role:

  • This is a full-time contract role focused on core features, transactions, and secure APIs all powering a product built for real customers and regulatory scrutiny.
  • The client will only consider candidates who are immediately available (within 1 week of offer).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building and extending backend services using TypeScript/Node.js.
  • Writing transactional business logic for financial flows (e.g. onboarding, withdrawals).
  • Designing and maintaining PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and queries.
  • Integrating with third-party APIs securely (OAuth2, JWT).
  • Improving existing systems for performance, reliability, and audit requirements.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally in financial services.
  • Strong TypeScript/Node.js skills, productive from day one.
  • Hands-on with AWS Lambda and serverless patterns.
  • PostgreSQL experience, schema design, performance tuning, real-world queries.
  • Solid understanding of building secure, documented REST APIs.
