Job Summary

The successful candidate will lead the wholesale risk model development team, driving execution of risk governance and practices around quantitative models.

Main Responsibilities
  • Establish a new Centre of Excellence for Wholesale Rating Models from the ground up, fostering innovation and best practices in model development and validation.
  • Provide thought leadership and contribute to industry-wide best practices in model development and validation.
  • Stay updated on regulatory and industry trends, translating them into actionable considerations for model design.
  • Independently research and develop innovative solutions that drive business growth.
Key Result Areas
  • Strategic & Leadership: Establish and scale a new Centre of Excellence for Wholesale Rating Models, provide thought leadership, and track latest regulatory and industry updates.
  • Stakeholder Management: Prepare presentations and communicate effectively with senior management and board-level committees, engage with multiple stakeholders across the credit lifecycle.
  • Technical & Delivery: Design and implement end-to-end processes for development, validation, and lifecycle management of Wholesale Rating Models, develop and validate a range of models including corporate/wholesale rating models.
  • People Management: Build, mentor, and lead a team of modelers and consultants, promoting knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Wholesale Model Monitoring: Outline goals of model monitoring, determine expected performance, implement monitoring tools, and communicate model performance to stakeholders.
  • Climate Risk Analytics: Develop statistical climate risk models, integrate economic and social data, assess potential impact of climate scenarios on financial risks, and establish a system for continuous monitoring of climate data.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in statistics and mathematics, experience in developing and validating wholesale rating models, and deep understanding of model lifecycle best practices.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as R and Python, proficient in data analysis and visualization using Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Hold a degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, quantitative finance, economics, engineering, or a related field.
  • 10-15 years of progressive, multi-discipline risk management experience within the banking sector, with a deep understanding of risk management concepts and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated capability to apply risk management concepts, analysis, and support to strategic decision-making processes, people, and managerial leadership experience in a matrixed and multi-jurisdictional organization.
