Backend Software Development Engineer and Instructor Job Description

This role blends hands-on backend development with the responsibility of acting as an instructor to guide students, design content, and ensure industry-relevant learning in backend technologies.

The successful candidate will contribute technical expertise in Node.js, Express.js, Databases, APIs, or MERN stack to support academic and project-based learning. They will also assist in designing, reviewing, and refining backend curriculum and learning materials to reflect real-world practices under Curriculum Support & Content Creation.

  • Provide technical guidance to students during labs and backend projects, helping them debug, optimize, and scale applications under Hands-on Mentorship.
  • Work with faculty members and teams to align curriculum with industry needs under Cross-Functional Collaboration.
  • Mentor students on backend best practices, coding standards, and industry career paths under Student Success.
  • Stay updated with backend technologies and bring industry insights into the classroom under Continuous Learning.

Key Qualifications:

  • 4-10 years of professional experience as a Software Developer/Engineer with a focus on Backend Development (preferably MERN stack).
  • Proficiency in Node.js, Express.js, Databases (SQL/NoSQL), and API design.
  • Solid understanding of backend fundamentals such as RESTful APIs, authentication, server-side logic, and performance optimization.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Passion for knowledge-sharing, mentoring, and guiding students.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior mentoring, corporate training, or teaching experience.
  • Familiarity with modern teaching tools and methodologies.
  • Exposure to system design and scalable backend architectures.
