Job Description
In this role, you will have the opportunity to operate and maintain various OS platforms, with a focus on debugging, automation, availability, performance, and scale. You will work and collaborate across teams, such as OS, Applications, Hardware, Network etc.
You will use your expertise in principles of automation and continuous improvement to help create an environment where availability, reliability, and security are threaded by being a role model for Juniors.
Key responsibilities include ensuring high availability of Linux systems and services, monitoring system performance and optimizing resources & Implementing failover strategies and disaster recovery plans.
You will also automate repetitive tasks using scripting (Bash, Python, Ansible, etc.), Manage infrastructure using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Kubernetes & Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
Additionally, you will quickly diagnose and resolve production incidents, participate in on-call rotations for system support, perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures & Set up alerting mechanisms for proactive issue resolution.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Must have 8+ yrs of experience and Expert level knowledge and troubleshooting Skills of Unix Infrastructure (Linux)
- Skillsets and expertise on virtualization (Cloud / VMware technologies)
- Troubleshooting various issues like performance, OS booting problems, Filesystem etc... on servers. And Strong technical knowledge in respective technology Ability of support role swap / DR tests
- Level 3 on-call support able to lead crisis calls and work on finding the Root Cause Analysis and should be able to test & implement remedial actions.
- Engineering of Linux systems administration-related solutions for global Payment services.
- Proactively monitoring system performance and capacity planning using the platform and strategic tools in the Bank
- Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment.
- Handle Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM), LVM, NFS, SAN, NAS, and related storage solutions.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) for high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- Knowledge about Agile practices, automation skills with bash, python, powershell and DevOps tools - Ansible, Puppet - Configuration Management and Deployment, puppet, Tanium & REST API, Jenkins continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, and Git or GitOps
- Experience writing reliable enterprise-grade software Basic coding skills, shell/bash, scripting in YAML, Ruby, Python knowledge of Go and JavaScript are a big plus.
