About the Opportunity


Electronic Arts is seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer I to join our team in Hyderabad. As a Senior Software Engineer I, you will be a key member of our central engineering team, responsible for designing and developing high-throughput, world-class services at a global scale for our next-generation games.


With a strong focus on scalability, reliability, and performance, you will work closely with our distributed teams to deliver amazing experiences to our players. Your expertise in Java, J2EE technologies, and microservices architecture will be essential in building and deploying high-volume, high-transaction-based distributed systems.


Your Key Responsibilities



  • Architect, develop, and deploy massively scalable services, solutions, and platforms with stellar performance.
  • Provide technology roadmap and direction for platforms, products, and features.
  • Collaborate with distributed teams to deliver amazing experiences to our players.
  • Improve technical excellence amongst team members through mentoring.
  • Lead and support company-wide technology initiatives in partnership with other architects.
  • Provide accurate estimates on deliverables for yourself and help the team on the same.
  • Identify and mitigate technology risks during early stages of development.
  • Provide architectural guidance and inputs for Quality Assurance, Load/Performance Testing, Capacity Planning.
  • Review design and code for adherence to architecture, security compliance, and coding standards.
  • Institutionalize and promote engineering best practices across teams.
  • Identify the right choice of tools for solving problems to minimize time, money, and maximize efficiency.
  • The last level in the escalation chain for resolving technical issues.

Your Skills and Experience


We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer I with a strong background in Java, J2EE technologies, and microservices architecture. You should have at least 12 years of experience working in Java, J2EE technologies, and 8 years of experience in building scalable distributed systems using microservices architecture.


You should be proficient in Spring, Spring Boot, gRPC, Load Balancing, Caching, Message Buses (Kafka etc.), AWS Cloud, Kubernetes, Docker, and other commonly used tools and techniques for building distributed systems on the cloud.


You should have demonstrated experience in designing and deploying high-volume, high-transaction-based distributed and highly available web applications.


Hands-on experience in building rich UI applications using JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks and libraries (such as React, Angular), HTML, and CSS is also required.


A strong understanding of object-oriented design patterns and design principles is essential.


Experience in SQL and NoSQL databases such as RDS, Elasticsearch, and Cassandra is also required.


Experience with DevOps including building CI/CD pipelines using Docker, Jenkins/Gitlab CI, and Kubernetes is highly desirable.
