We are seeking a seasoned Backend Developer to join our team.

About the Role

This position is ideal for an individual with experience in designing, developing and maintaining scalable backend applications using Laravel. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining robust, well-documented and maintainable code.

  • You will design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications using Laravel
  • Write clean, well-documented and maintainable code following PHP and Laravel standards
Key Responsibilities

Backend Development

  • Design and develop complex backend applications utilizing Laravel
  • Maintain high standards of application performance, security and scalability

API Development

  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs for seamless integration with internal and external systems

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with product managers, designers, and frontend developers to deliver features and improvements
  • Participate in cross-functional team discussions and planning

Performance & Security

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex backend issues and bugs in production

Code Quality & Best Practices

  • Participate in code reviews and promote coding standards and best practices
  • Maintain source control using Git and follow agile development workflows
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Laravel and PHP backend development
  • Strong understanding of MySQL, relational databases and data modeling
  • Proven experience in designing and consuming RESTful APIs
  • Familiarity with Git version control and agile methodologies
  • Basic understanding of cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in financial or loan management systems, USSD applications or mobile carrier integrations is a strong advantage
