Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Patent Researcher to join our team at Oceaneering. As a Patent Researcher, you will be responsible for conducting patent research and analysis to support the development of new products and business cases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct prior art searches and technology landscapes to identify potential IP conflicts.
  • Evaluate customer inquiries and work towards the close-out of tasks.
  • Benchmark competitor products and identify new ideas for business case development.
  • Support the establishment of functional design specifications for new products through literature surveys and market studies.
  • Explore information from various sources, including journals, online publications, and subscribed newsletters.
  • Understand and comply with established project management processes and contribute to their improvement.
  • Stay informed about the latest technologies and business solutions for protecting intellectual property.
  • Review compliance with Non-Disclosure Agreements and approve draft papers or reports before publication.
  • Identify ways to preserve and protect Company intellectual property rights and handle relevant paperwork.
  • Assist in monitoring information available on the Internet and other public sources to prevent unauthorized use of Company intellectual property.
Requirements
  • Post-Graduation (Master's degree) in Intellectual Property Management or Graduation (Bachelor's degree) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Three to five years of relevant industry patent research experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, with intermediate to advanced skill in Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with multi-cultural teams of technicians and engineers.
  • Ability to write accurately and communicate concisely.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively propose and implement changes to work practices.
  • Self-driven, with a positive attitude.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong organizing and planning skills.
Working Conditions

This position is considered OFFICE WORK, characterized as follows:

  • Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night.
  • Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the workplace.
  • Work surface is stable (flat).
