Senior Power Electronics Hardware Engineer

This position is responsible for designing and developing power electronics hardware with a focus on high-level system integration. The ideal candidate will have expertise in closed-loop control for power converters, compensator design, and semiconductor devices.

• Define Specifications and Requirements: Develop detailed specifications and requirements for product hardware, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Hardware Design and Review: Conduct thorough reviews of hardware designs and firmware controls to ensure high-quality and reliability.
• Test Planning and Verification: Create test plans to verify electrical, environmental, and functional compliance, and monitor development progress.
• FMEA Analysis: Perform FMEA analysis to evaluate reliability and identify potential safety or liability concerns related to the product.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate and track product development milestones with project managers and cross-functional teams.
• DFX Updates and ECNs: Oversee DFX updates, engineering change notices, and product life cycle management to ensure seamless product development.
• Mentorship and Team Guidance: Mentor the team on design best practices, ensuring adherence to established technical standards during product development.
• Research and Innovation: Research new development concepts to guide future product innovation and identify cost-competitive technological alternatives suitable for scaling up.
• Design Validation: Validate design concepts through a combination of circuit simulations and prototyping to ensure optimal performance and functionality.

The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:

• Master's Degree in Power Electronics: A master's degree in power electronics with 8-12 years of experience is preferred.
• Closed-Loop Control Expertise: Strong understanding of closed-loop control for power converters and compensator design.
• Semiconductor Devices: Experience with high-speed or high-power semiconductor devices, specifically power converter designs over 100kVA and in medium voltage applications.
• Techical Knowledge and System-Level Design: Solid technical knowledge, competence, and system-level design experience.
• Project Management: Proven track record of managing multiple power electronics projects involving analog and digital electronics as well as control circuitry.
• EMI Filter Design: Experience in EMI filter design and product qualification/compliance testing.
• Circuit Simulation Tools: Familiarity with circuit simulation tools like Simulink.
• Derating and Reliability Analysis: Skills in derating, FMEA, and reliability analysis.
• Circuit Debugging: Excellent circuit debugging and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Technical Documentation: Experience in writing technical documents such as hardware requirements, product design specifications, test specifications, and board-level design details.
• Component Selection and Integration: Strong knowledge of component selection and system integration.
• Communication Skills: Good communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
• Mentorship and Agile Product Development: Experience mentoring small teams with strong decision-making capabilities and the ability to work effectively in an agile product development model.
