About Lady Andal House of Children

Lady Andal House of Children is a special school in Chennai, founded by The Madras Seva Sadan, an institution with a long legacy in education. Located on a scenic campus, the school provides special education and vocational training for children and adults with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, and Down Syndrome.

The school offers pre-vocational and vocational training programs, including the NIOS curriculum, supported by a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals providing physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy.

Job Description

We are building a dynamic team of special educators to work with learners with multiple disabilities and guide participants in the NIOS Program.

  • Develop and implement Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs.
  • Deliver customised instruction to students based on their individual needs and learning styles.
  • Modify the standard curriculum to meet the abilities of students with disabilities.
  • Implement and monitor behaviour intervention plans and use positive behaviour supports.
  • Work closely with general education teachers, therapists, counsellors, and parents to support students' academic and social development.
  • Assess and track student performance and progress regularly.
  • Maintain a supportive, safe, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, assessments, and communications.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or equivalent in Multiple Disabilities.
  • 3 to 7 years working with children and adults with multiple disabilities.
  • Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and assistive aids and devices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Good organisational and documentation skills.
  • Bilingual medium of instruction requires candidates to be proficient in English and Tamil.
