Job Opportunity: Scientific Graphic Designer

Cactus Communications has an opening for a remote Scientific Graphic Designer.

This is a chance to combine scientific expertise with creative design skills and produce accurate and visually engaging materials.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop graphical abstracts that represent the essence of a scientific study in a concise manner.
  • Read and comprehend scientific manuscripts to identify key visual elements and concepts.
  • Develop storyboards to outline the visual narrative, ensuring alignment with the scientific content and objectives.
  • Generate initial sketches to illustrate the visual concepts and collaborate closely with researchers, writers, and clients to refine and finalize the visual representation.

Requirements:

  • Graduate/PhD degree in STEM fields, especially Biology/Biotechnology/Medicine/Chemistry/Physics/Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in scientific graphic designing, communicating science and complex research into visually engaging output.
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Design Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop).
  • Knowledge of creating 3D designs in Blender is a plus.
  • Experience in scientific graphic designing, medical illustrations, journal cover designs, and graphical abstracts.
  • Familiarity with the scientific publishing & science communication landscape.
