Job Title: Senior Database Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Architect to oversee the installation, configuration, and management of PostgreSQL and Redis systems in high-availability environments. The ideal candidate will work closely with our system architecture and operations teams to design, implement, and maintain critical database infrastructure on virtual machines and OpenShift container platforms.

Responsibilities:

* Assist in the design and architecture of PostgreSQL databases and Redis caches in alignment with business and technical needs.
* Install, configure, and manage highly available PostgreSQL databases ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability.
* Install, configure, and manage highly available Redis clusters to ensure consistent and efficient data caching and management.
* Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot database performance, making recommendations for improvements in database operations.
* Perform upgrades and patching of PostgreSQL and Redis systems to ensure security and functionality are maintained.
* Collaborate with the system architecture team to evaluate and recommend tools, services, and technologies for database administration and management.
* Ensure backups, replication, and recovery processes are reliable and meet business continuity requirements.
* Implement and manage database failover mechanisms to ensure minimal downtime and high availability.
* Provide expertise in database design, including performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
* Support database security by implementing access controls, monitoring, and regular security updates.

Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* 5 years of experience in database administration, particularly with PostgreSQL and Redis in highly available environments.
* Proficient in the installation, configuration, and management of PostgreSQL databases and Redis clusters on virtual machines or containerized environments such as OpenShift.
* Strong knowledge of high-availability (HA) solutions, replication, failover, and recovery strategies for PostgreSQL and Redis.
* Experience with database performance tuning, indexing, and optimization techniques.
* Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, etc.) and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.
* Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Strong understanding of security best practices for database management.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience working with OpenShift container platforms or other Kubernetes-based environments.
* Certification in PostgreSQL or Redis administration.
* Familiarity with other database systems (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB) and caching solutions.
* Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
