About the Role

At Splunk Inc, we're looking for a highly skilled Senior Software Architect to lead our Observability platform development team. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will drive technology direction, set the bar for technical excellence, and ensure delivery of our products.

Responsibilities

  1. Drive technology direction and set the bar for technical excellence
  2. Lead architecture discussions and propose solutions for scalability, usability, and security
  3. Lead sophisticated efforts from inception to completion, collaborating with product managers and multi-functional engineering teams
  4. Take ownership and initiative to own and address issues promptly for internal and external customers
  5. Become proficient in Splunk's core technologies and processes as they apply to application development
  6. Opportunity to mentor senior engineers and raise the bar on engineering practices across the team and organization
  7. Participate in end-to-end architecture reviews and discussions with the broader team
  8. Collaborate with interaction designers and visual designers to create an intuitive user experience

Qualifications

Must-Have:
  1. 10+ years of relevant industry experience with a bachelor's degree; or 8+ years and a master's degree
  2. Good knowledge of web standards and modern browsers, responsive design, and of the full web technology stack
  3. Experience in client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks (React)
  4. A strong foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in operating systems, networks, data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and software design
  5. Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills, both verbal and written
  6. A demonstrated capability for creative thinking, intellectual, and entrepreneurial exploration
  7. Experience developing, debugging, and performance tuning highly concurrent systems
  8. Extensive knowledge and production programming experience in at least one of Java/C++/Python
  9. Experience designing and developing REST-based services with well-defined contracts
  10. Self-starter who is comfortable taking the lead on a task, collaborating with other engineers to design and implement features
  11. Familiar with the agile software development process

Nice to have skills:

  1. Strong understanding of one of the major Cloud technologies, e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  2. Experience in working within a Continuous Delivery (CD) development model
