Job Description

We are seeking an experienced MySQL Aurora Database Administrator to manage, monitor, and optimize our AWS Aurora MySQL database environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in database administration, performance tuning, security, and high availability setups.

">Key Responsibilities:
  1. Install, configure, and manage MySQL Aurora database clusters in AWS.
  2. Perform database upgrades, patches, and migrations as required.
  3. Monitor database health and performance using AWS monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Performance Insights).
  4. Implement regular backups, restore processes, and disaster recovery solutions.
  5. Design and maintain fault-tolerant and highly available database solutions using Aurora replicas and other AWS features.

As a successful candidate, you will work closely with development, operations, and architecture teams to ensure the smooth operation of our database systems, meeting business requirements and maintaining system integrity.

">Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in MySQL database administration.
  • Hands-on experience managing AWS Aurora MySQL clusters.
  • Strong knowledge of database design, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Proficiency in AWS services related to Aurora (e.g., RDS, CloudWatch, IAM, Backup & Restore).
  • Experience with high availability, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.

A strong background in database security best practices, including encryption and access control, is also essential.

">Preferred Skills

While not required, the following skills would be beneficial for this role:

  • Knowledge of other AWS databases (e.g., DynamoDB, Redshift) or RDBMS (e.g., PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with database monitoring tools like Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana.
  • Familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud-native architectures.

AWS Certified Database - Specialty or other relevant AWS certifications are also desirable.
