Job Title: Piping Stress Engineer

Description:

The Piping Stress Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the mechanical integrity, safe operation, and compliance with industry codes and standards of piping systems. They are responsible for conducting comprehensive stress analyses to ensure that piping systems can withstand various loads, including sustained, thermal expansion, and pressure loads.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and Analysis: Conduct thorough stress analysis for critical and non-critical piping systems, including seismic analysis, wind load analysis, slug flow analysis, fluid transient analysis, acoustic-induced vibration checks, fatigue analysis, and complex systems modeling.
  • Support and Load Design: Select standard and special piping support components, issue accurate load data to civil and structural engineering teams, and perform reinforcement evaluations at pipe supports, branch connections, and trunnions.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare project-specific piping stress specifications, design basis documents, stress critical line lists, marked-up isometrics, and detailed stress analysis reports.
  • Quality and Compliance: Ensure code compliance with international codes and standards, participate in project review meetings, and review vendor documentation and drawings.
  • Interdisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, provide technical support and guidance, and work closely with the procurement team.

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need a minimum 8-12 years of experience in piping stress analysis for the Oil & Gas industry, including onshore and offshore projects. You should also have experience with CAESAR II software and other piping stress software like AutoPIPE or ROHR2. Familiarity with 3D model review tools such as Navisworks is also highly desirable.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience with specific plant types, Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, or equivalent certification, familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software, site or fabrication yard experience, leadership experience, and mentoring of junior engineers.
