About this role:

This position involves continually evaluating the performance of our Elasticsearch and Splunk clusters to identify developing problems, planning changes for high-load events, applying security fixes, testing incremental upgrades, and extending monitoring and alert infrastructure.

  • Key responsibilities include maintaining other parts of the data pipeline, including server-less or server-based systems feeding into the Elasticsearch pipeline.
  • Ongoing optimization of cost-vs-performance through testing of new hosts or configurations is required.
  • Expertise in declarative tools like Puppet and scripting mechanisms for automation is necessary.
  • Infrastructure management includes public cloud, Kubernetes clusters, and private datacenters.
  • Effective partnerships across Product, Engineering, and Operations teams are crucial.
  • Participation in on-call rotations and issue escalation as needed is required.
  • Required skills include administration and management of Elasticsearch clusters (primary), administration and management of Splunk clusters (secondary), strong knowledge of provisioning and configuration management tools, experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform, Packer, or CloudFormation templates, experience with monitoring and logging tools, scripting languages like Python, Bash, Go, Ruby, Perl, CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Pipelines, Artifactory, effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
