**Central Engineering Services Overview**

The Central Engineering Services team is a critical component of Amazon's Devices and Services organization, providing diverse support to various stakeholders. We work closely with business stakeholders, software development engineers, and scientist colleagues to design, implement, and maintain state-of-the-art solutions that handle large datasets efficiently.

To achieve this goal, we need a skilled Data Engineer who can analyze complex data environments, employ the right architecture to handle data, and support various analytics use cases including business reporting, production data pipeline, machine learning, optimization models, statistical models, and simulations.

The ideal candidate has outstanding analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and a good business understanding. They should be technically savvy, able to interface between technical teams and business stakeholders, and have experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Analyze complex data environments to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Employ the right architecture to handle data, ensuring efficient data processing and analysis.
  • Support various analytics use cases including business reporting, production data pipeline, machine learning, optimization models, statistical models, and simulations.
  • Mentor team members on best practices and contribute to the growth of our engineering capabilities.

**Requirements:**

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or technical field such as Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or similar.
  • 5+ years of experience with data warehouse technical architectures, ETL/ELT, reporting/analytics tools, and scripting.
  • Experience with AWS services including S3, Lambda, EMR, RDS, Data-pipeline, and other data technologies.
  • Strong SQL skills, particularly with Redshift, Oracle, MySQL, and Columnar Databases.
  • Superior attention to detail, project management skills, and the ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
