Accessibility Specialist Role Summary

This position is responsible for ensuring that digital platforms, documents, and multimedia content meet ADA, WCAG, and Section 508 compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Audit digital platforms for accessibility issues using automated tools and manual testing.
  • Perform real-user accessibility testing to identify usability challenges with screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, and mobile responsiveness.
  • Develop and implement remediation plans to address identified accessibility gaps in PDFs, Office documents, videos, and multimedia content.
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure accessible coding practices and assist with VPAT/ACR preparation.
  • Provide expert guidance on ADA, Section 508, WCAG 2.1/2.2, and emerging US/state accessibility laws.

Required Skills & Tools:

  • In-depth knowledge of WCAG 2.1/2.2, ADA Title II/III, Section 504/508 regulations.
  • Proficiency in HTML5, ARIA, CSS3, JavaScript, and Adobe Acrobat Pro software.
  • Experience supporting federal, state, or higher education contracts is preferred.

  • IAAP CPWA (Certified Professional in Web Accessibility)
  • IAAP WAS (Web Accessibility Specialist)
  • IAAP ADS (Accessible Document Specialist)
  • DHS Section 508 Trusted Tester
  • IAAP CPACC (Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies)
