Job Overview

The Commercial Data team in Advertising is a high-performance unit that develops leading property and market data insights to power Real Estate products. This squad sits in the #1 place for commercial property and data in Australia.

We're seeking an experienced Senior Lead Engineer with 7-10 years of experience who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys being hands-on tackling technical challenges, and leads teams to deliver innovative solutions. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across the globe to design, develop, and optimize features to ensure high-quality, scalable solutions that deliver exceptional user experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading or significantly contributing to initiatives with strategic focus and value
  • Solving deep, complex technical problems in ways that enable other team members to learn and extend
  • Supporting the Engineering Manager/Tech Lead in setting the technical direction
  • Providing technical mentoring and guidance to less experienced members of the team
  • Supporting and driving continuous improvement of our production systems and being an advocate for the overall health of our systems
  • Working with stakeholders to design high quality solutions that meet the needs of our users, including vendor platforms
  • Writing, testing, and documenting code according to REA Engineering standards and practices
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Well-versed in SQL, Python, ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Experience with Data modeling
  • Experience with Data pipelines
  • Experience with Data consumption
  • Experience with Data analysis and documentation
  • Experience with Data warehousing
  • Advanced skills in designing solutions that scale and perform for millions of users
  • Advanced skills in developing long-term system architecture strategies
  • Experience with modern software development techniques (e.g. functional programming, microservice architecture, test-driven development, and CI/CD)
  • Able to communicate and collaborate effectively with business stakeholders
  • Able to understand business, customer, and consumer needs to provide appropriate data solutions
  • Able to mentor other engineers in a collaborative agile team environment
  • Someone passionate about data and the latest data technologies
  • Good awareness of TDD, CI/CD approaches, and tools
