CPU Validation Expert

We are seeking a skilled post-silicon validation engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for validating and verifying the functionality, performance, and reliability of CPU hardware after silicon fabrication. This role involves working closely with pre-silicon teams, firmware, software, and manufacturing teams to identify and debug silicon issues, improve test coverage, and ensure the CPU meets design specifications and quality standards.

The key responsibilities include developing and executing comprehensive post-silicon validation plans and test cases for CPU hardware. Performing functional, performance, power, and reliability testing on silicon prototypes is also essential. Collaborating with design, verification, firmware, and software teams to identify and debug silicon issues using tools such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG, and embedded trace is required. Analyzing test failures, providing detailed bug reports, and tracking issues to closure is also a critical task.

In addition, the successful candidate will develop automation scripts and tools to enhance test coverage and efficiency. Validating CPU features including cores, caches, memory subsystems, interconnects, power management, and other CPU-specific blocks is also necessary. Working with manufacturing and yield teams to support bring-up and ramp of silicon in production is an important part of this role. Providing feedback and recommendations to pre-silicon teams to improve design and verification quality is also required.

A bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field is required. Strong understanding of CPU microarchitecture and related components (cores, caches, memory controllers, interconnects) is also necessary. Experience with post-silicon validation methodologies and tools is essential. Proficiency in hardware debugging tools such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG, etc. is required. Strong scripting skills in Python, Perl, TCL, or similar languages are also necessary.

The preferred qualifications include experience with CPU or SoC post-silicon validation. Exposure to CPU pre-silicon verification methodologies is also beneficial. Familiarity with CPU instruction set architectures (ISA) such as x86, ARM, RISC-V is required. Knowledge of manufacturing test and yield improvement is also necessary. Experience working in Agile or Scrum development environments is preferred.
