The ideal candidate will have the necessary experience, skills, and passion for optimizing our entire tech architecture, which comprises:

• Over 120 high-traffic eCommerce websites serving customers worldwide

• Business analytics determining product selection, customer growth, and retention

• ERP software managing our global operations

• Software enabling us to crawl product listings at scale

• Modules across all functions - including marketing, logistics, customer support, finance, etc.

• Modules supporting workflow, dashboards, and reporting processes for all divisions

Our team is looking for an analytical, results-driven back-end developer who will work with members to troubleshoot and improve current back-end applications and processes. The Senior Developer - RoR/JS will leverage their understanding of programming languages and tools to analyze current code and industry developments, formulate efficient processes, solve problems, and create seamless experiences for users. You should have excellent communication, computer, and project management skills. To succeed as a backend developer, you should be focused on building better programs and creating better end-user experiences. You should be knowledgeable, collaborative, and motivated.

Responsibilities:

  • Compile and analyze data, processes, and code to identify areas for improvement and troubleshoot problems
  • Collaborate with front-end developers and other team members to establish objectives and design functional, cohesive code enhancing the user experience
  • Develop ideas for new programs, products, or features by monitoring industry developments and trends
  • Record data and report it to relevant parties, such as clients or leadership
  • Participate in continuing education and training to remain current on best practices, learn new programming languages, and better assist other team members
  • Lead on projects as needed
Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in computer programming, computer science, or a related field

• 10-14 years of experience with primary expertise in Ruby on Rails and familiarity with JavaScript front-end technologies. Engineers with strong Ruby on Rails experience who are willing to learn JavaScript can also be considered

• Strong understanding of the web development cycle and programming techniques and tools

• Focus on efficiency, user experience, and process improvement

• Excellent project and time management skills

• Strong problem-solving and verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work independently or with a group
