Lead Data Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Lead Data Engineer to drive the architecture and strategy of our data platform.

About the Role:

This key position involves shaping the technology roadmap, mentoring senior engineers, and collaborating with clients to deliver innovative data solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive large-scale data initiatives and stay at the forefront of modern cloud-native technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of 4-5 Sr. Engineers to design, develop, and deploy scalable data architectures.
  • Drive client communication, requirement gathering, and roadmap planning to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Solve complex data modeling challenges and propose/review architecture to optimize data quality and performance.
  • Build and maintain Spark applications and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or ArgoCD) to streamline data processing and deployment.
  • Collaborate on Databricks and dbt development, as well as Airflow workflow orchestration to automate data workflows.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with 4+ years leading teams to design, develop, and deploy scalable data architectures.
  • Strong coding expertise: Python, JVM, and Shell scripting with production-grade experience.
  • 5+ years in cloud-native, data-intensive applications with mandatory AWS expertise.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks and dbt (mandatory), along with expertise in Airflow and Spark applications.
  • Deep understanding of file formats: Parquet, Delta Lake, OTFs, and proficiency in building CI/CD pipelines.
  • Solid knowledge of unit testing & test automation frameworks.
Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes for containerization.
  • Hands-on experience with IaC tools (Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation).
  • Exposure to observability systems (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).
