Database Administrator

MINDTEL GLOBAL PRIVATE LIMITED is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Database Administrator to join our IT team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and upgrade database management systems (DBMS) such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL databases.
  • Monitor and maintain database performance, availability, and reliability.
  • Perform regular backups, restores, and recovery operations to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Manage and optimize database storage and data integrity.
  • Analyze and optimize database performance using tools and techniques such as indexing, query optimization, and system configuration.
  • Monitor and diagnose performance issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform capacity planning and scaling of database resources based on usage patterns and growth projections.
  • Implement and enforce database security policies and access controls to protect sensitive data.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design and implement efficient database schemas and data models.
  • Review and approve database designs and changes to ensure alignment with architectural standards and best practices.
  • Support database migrations, upgrades, and integration with other systems.
  • Respond to and resolve database-related incidents and service requests in a timely manner.
  • Perform root cause analysis of database issues and implement permanent fixes.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and changes.
  • Work closely with software developers, system administrators, and other IT staff to support database related projects and initiatives.
  • Communicate database-related information clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with the latest database technologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Propose and implement improvements to database management processes and procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of internal knowledge base and training materials.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Database Administrator.
  • Proficiency in managing and administering one or more DBMS platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL databases.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and database querying languages.
  • Experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Familiarity with database monitoring and performance tuning tools.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python for automation tasks.
  • Understanding of operating systems and hardware platforms relevant to database environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g. AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
  • Knowledge of database clustering, replication, and high availability configurations.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g. CI/CD pipelines).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, or equivalent).
