About Our Fleet of Databases
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator to own the performance, availability, and security of our growing fleet of databases across MSSQL, PostgreSQL, and AWS-managed services.
This individual will play a key role in designing scalable data architectures, ensuring high availability, and supporting development teams with optimized queries and resilient data pipelines.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain, monitor, and tune production and staging MSSQL and PostgreSQL databases
- Manage high availability, backups, restores, replication, and disaster recovery strategies
- Ensure uptime and performance SLAs are met across cloud and hybrid environments
- Administer RDS, Aurora, and EC2-hosted database instances.
- Monitor database performance using CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and third-party tools
- Work with engineering teams to model new schemas, optimize indexes, and review queries
- Implement and enforce best practices in database normalization, partitioning, and data lifecycle management
- Ensure data encryption, access controls, and audit logging are in place and compliant with company policies
- Support GDPR/SOC 2/ISO 27001 initiatives with appropriate database controls and evidence collection
- Provide database guidance to developers and DevOps teams during code reviews and deployments
- Share knowledge, mentor junior DBAs, and improve documentation and internal tooling
