Medical Coding Professional

We are seeking a skilled Medical Coding professional to join our team. As a medical coder, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and consistency of patient data.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will have experience working with ICD and CPT codes, as well as proficiency in medical terminology and anatomy. You will be responsible for assigning accurate codes to medical procedures and diagnoses, reviewing patient charts for completeness and accuracy, and communicating with other clinical staff regarding documentation and coding.

Responsibilities:

  • Assign codes to medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD and CPT codes.
  • Ensure codes are accurate and sequenced correctly in accordance with government and insurance regulations.
  • Review patient charts and documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Follow up with providers on any documentation that is insufficient or unclear.
  • Communicate with other clinical staff regarding documentation and coding.
  • Search for information in cases where the coding is complex or unusual.

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience as a Medical Coder.
  • Medical coding certification (CPC).
  • Bachelor's degree with pre-health career track preferred.
  • Administrative writing skills.
  • Reporting skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Record-keeping.
  • Microsoft Office skills.
  • Professionalism, confidentiality, and organization.
  • Typing.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Expertise with ICD-X codes and CPT Procedures.
  • Skilled in operating various medical record software and hardware, word-processing, and database software programs.
