Job Title: Cloud Java Developer

About the Job We are looking for a skilled Cloud Java Developer to join our team. As a Cloud Java Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing and architecting new and current systems. You will participate in enterprise architecture reviews and provide recommendations and guidance to align the POS systems to optimize Petco IT investments.

Responsibilities The responsibilities of this role include:
  • Designing, developing and architecting new and current systems.
  • Participating in enterprise architecture reviews and providing recommendations and guidance.
  • Acting as technical lead for medium to large complex project/feature enhancement.
  • Working with the Product Management team, Project Management, Business and User Experience teams to identify and prioritize initiatives and features.
  • Participating in all grooming and priority setting sessions and accountable for project sizing and estimation.
  • Evaluating new tools, technologies and processes to improve speed, efficiency and scalability.
  • Monitoring server and application performance using one or more of Application Performance Monitoring tools.
  • Working closely with other development teams across Petco to troubleshoot issues, performance tuning and identify opportunities for seamless integrations across systems.
  • Working closely with the Production Support team to train, guide and troubleshoot production issues.
  • Providing coaching and technical guidance for Software Engineers at different levels of experience.

Requirements The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on enterprise JAVA application and Spring boot development experience, in-depth knowledge of retail POS processes, including customer facing (Sales & Returns management, promotion & pricing, membership, loyalty, payment integration etc…) and back-office (Cash Management, Opening & Closing, TLOG processing). They will also have extensive experience with PCI & PII security standards, best practices and IT design and development patterns and standards, and extensive hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies. Additionally, they will have excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
