Polyurethane Finishing Specialist Job Summary


The Polyurethane Finishing Specialist will oversee all polyurethane-related finishing processes in the production of wooden furniture.


Key Responsibilities:



  • PU Application & Quality Control:

    • Plan and execute the polyurethane finishing process for wooden furniture components.
    • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for polyurethane coating and finishing.
    • Conduct quality inspections to ensure consistency, gloss levels, and surface smoothness.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues related to polyurethane application.

  • Material Selection & Process Optimization:

    • Select appropriate polyurethane materials, hardeners, and solvents based on furniture requirements.
    • Optimize application techniques (e.g., spray, roller) for efficient material usage and minimal wastage.
    • Work on improving drying times, curing, and surface protection to enhance product durability.

  • Color Matching & Customization:

    • Perform color matching to meet specific client requirements.
    • Develop custom finishes, textures, and coatings based on design specifications.

  • Equipment Management:

    • Oversee maintenance and calibration of polyurethane spray guns, pumps, and other finishing equipment.
    • Ensure equipment is in good working condition and that all safety measures are followed during operation.

  • Team Training & Development:

    • Train and guide team members on polyurethane application techniques and safety standards.
    • Keep the team updated on the latest polyurethane technology, tools, and industry trends.

  • Compliance & Safety:

    • Ensure all polyurethane materials are used in accordance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Implement measures to minimize exposure to harmful chemicals and manage waste disposal as per norms.

  • Collaboration:

    • Coordinate with production, design, and quality teams to align finishing processes with overall production goals.
    • Provide feedback on design elements that may impact the finishing quality or process efficiency.

Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in polyurethane finishing in the wooden furniture industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of various polyurethane coatings, sealers, hardeners, and their application techniques.
  • Proven experience in color matching, gloss control, and troubleshooting finishing issues.
