Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and validate system requirements to ensure target servers can support Posit products (OS, CPU, RAM, disk space).
  • Verify server access to necessary repositories and allow inbound/outbound network traffic as required by each product.
Installation of Posit Workbench
  • Install R: Support multiple versions of R.
  • Install Python: Support multiple versions of Python.
  • Install Quarto: Support multiple versions of Quarto.
  • Install Workbench: Download and install the Posit Workbench package for your OS.
  • Configure Workbench: Set up users, session management, resource limits, etc. through configuration files.
  • Start the Service: Ensure it runs on startup.
  • Testing: Verify installation success through web browser access.
Installation of Posit Connect
  • Install Connect: Download and install the Posit Connect package for your OS.
  • Configure Connect: Edit the connect.gcfg configuration file to set up server URL, authentication methods, email notifications, and storage options.
  • Set Up SSL: Configure secure HTTP connections.
  • Start the Service: Ensure it runs on startup.
  • Testing: Publish content to Connect from RStudio (Posit Workbench) to confirm working status.
Installation of Posit Package Manager
  • Install Package Manager: Download and install the Posit Package Manager package for your OS.
  • Configure Repositories: Set up CRAN, Bioconductor, and custom package repositories in the Package Manager configuration.
  • Configure Access: Set up user authentication and permissions.
  • Start the Service: Ensure it runs on startup.
  • Testing: Access the Package Manager through a web browser, configure client R environments to use the Package Manager, and install packages to verify setup.
Ongoing Maintenance
  • Update and Patch Management: Regularly apply updates and patches to Posit products and their dependencies.
  • License Management: Monitor license usage and renew licenses as needed.
  • Support: Establish a support plan, either through internal teams or via Posit support.
