Fabrication Engineer

Overview:

The Fabrication Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success of daily manufacturing operations. This key position is responsible for overseeing production processes, guaranteeing quality, safety, and efficiency while meeting production targets.

Responsibilities:

  • Production Management:
    • Supervise fabrication activities to meet production schedules and ensure timely completion of tasks.
    • Allocate tasks effectively to optimize workflow and allocate resources efficiently.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure all fabricated components meet design specifications and quality standards through rigorous inspections and testing.
    • Address any quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and motivate a team of fabricators, welders, and operators to achieve excellence in their work.
    • Train employees on best practices, safety protocols, and quality standards to enhance performance and productivity.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Enforce strict safety protocols and ensure compliance with workplace regulations and industry standards.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and implement measures to mitigate risks and hazards.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify areas for process optimization and cost reduction through data analysis and employee feedback.
    • Implement Lean Manufacturing and 5S practices to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of production reports, material usage, and downtime logs.
    • Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule equipment servicing and repairs.

Requirements:

  • Education: Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in fabrication, welding, and sheet metal manufacturing.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, Arc), CNC cutting, and bending; experience in handling a team and managing shop floor operations; familiarity with ISO standards, safety regulations, and quality management systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in welding or fabrication.
  • Experience in heavy metal fabrication or precision engineering industries.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings and fabrication blueprints.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Knowledge of ERP software and MS Office.
