Role Overview

Vedanta Limited - Aluminium Business is a leading organisation in the aluminium production industry, offering a wide range of high-quality products. As we continue to grow and expand our operations, we are seeking a highly skilled Lead Geologist - Mines Aluminium to join our team.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Lead Geologist - Mines Aluminium to lead our geology and planning team. The successful candidate will be responsible for unlocking increased value and growth for the business by delivering strategic plans, annual exploration targets, and resource and reserve statements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement annual exploration targets, annual production plans, and business plans
  • Deliver high-quality annual resource and reserve statements with external agency audits
  • Conduct strategic planning and scheduling for production, quality, and cost
  • Create expansion plans as per management requirements, technical validation, and action plan preparation for different mines
  • Provide technical inputs and control on various surveys, including drone and lidar, to utilize them effectively in future works
  • Plan mine equipment, production capacity, overburden removal, coal evacuation, and phasing, along with cash flow and NPV assessment
  • Train and build teams for geology and planning, ESG and compliance, and technical study
  • Educate customers and promote business excellence, establishing best practices in all processes
  • Establish technical labs and LIMS, automate data through MIS and dashboard, and incorporate new technologies, innovation, digitalization, and automation in various fields
  • Provide technical inputs in land management systems, forest diversion, EC, CTE, DGPS survey, coordination with ORSAC, CMPDI, MOC, and CCO
Requirements
  • 60% or above throughout education
  • M.Tech/M.Sc in Geology or more educational qualification, professional organisational membership, recognition, accreditation
  • Geological work experience in coal mines for over 15 years in senior geologist or chief geologist positions
  • Hands-on experience with Auto CAD, Minex geological modelling, and 3-D civil
  • Experience in coal quality handling and sufficient knowledge of BIS process and standards
  • Total knowledge of coal quality process and analysis system
  • Good knowledge and experience in hydrogeology, mine survey, drone survey, DGPS survey, land management system, and GIS
