Portfolio Management Position

The Amherst Merchant Banking business unit oversees investment management activities for real estate investments, including the raising of new debt and equity capital, the formation of new ventures, the strategic acquisition and disposition of properties, and the management and operation of portfolio investments.

The team sits at the center of the action, serving as leaders and collaborators with every function that serves the lifecycle of our investment products. We seek a highly motivated individual to play a key role in the execution of reporting to investors and stakeholders invested in single-family rental (SFR) properties.

The role involves generating operational reports for our Single-family Rental (SFR) portfolios, which are delivered externally to each of our Joint Venture (JV) institutional investors. Each institutional investor jointly owns the portfolio with us and may contain 100's-1,000's of homes in a single portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting Senior Portfolio Managers in maintaining and improving complex portfolio investment and fund-level models.
  • Building and maintaining portfolio/financial models, including cash flow projections, fund-level waterfalls, and IRR calculations, DCF and NPV valuations.
  • Working with a Manager to evaluate and clarify investor requests, offer alternative solutions, and perform deep dives into operational metrics when applicable.
  • Providing guidance to the team members and leading the team on complex deliverables.
  • Identifying opportunities to centralize, eliminate, or automate activities.
  • Preparing and reviewing fund operational reports and any modifications for our Single-Family Residential Joint Ventures with our strategic investors on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly cadence, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
