English Teacher Job Description

The English teacher plays a vital role in shaping the linguistic skills and comprehension of students.

As an English teacher, you will be responsible for designing engaging lesson plans that cater to different learning styles and abilities.

  • Deliver lessons effectively by staying prepared with lesson plans, attending workshops, and seeking clarification as needed.
  • Be aware of lesson objectives and introduce them logically and clearly.
  • Use teaching aids, resources, activities, and assignments to create meaningful learning experiences.
  • Maintain eye contact, move around the class, and interact with students to encourage engagement.
  • Translate lesson plans into learning experiences, utilizing available time effectively.

Student Administration:

  • Ensure continuous student growth and achievement, adapting to age groups, subjects, and program classifications.
  • Be approachable, fair, and objective when dealing with students.
  • Inculcate discipline in and out of the classroom.
  • Treat children with dignity and respect, promoting maximum participation and interest.
  • Monitor progress, adjust pace, and provide opportunities for success.

Classroom Functioning:

  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, suitable for maturity and interests.
  • Develop effective displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
  • Maintain professional relationships with parents, providing feedback on student progress.
  • Identify student needs, coordinate with coordinators and special educators, and update grade level coordinators on significant episodes or incidents.
