The Music Programming Manager will be responsible for defining the overall programming strategy, developing editorial calendars, and ensuring genre/mood/topic coverage aligns with business goals.
This involves understanding user needs, leveraging data and analytics to inform curation decisions, and keeping up with content trends on social media platforms.
- Editorial Calendar Development: Developing schedules for playlists, campaigns, seasons, and creator trends.
- Genre Coverage Alignment: Ensuring genre/mood/topic coverage aligns with business objectives.
- Team Leadership: Leading a team of curators, playlist editors, or content managers.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with Music Acquisition, A&R, Marketing, Product, and Data teams.
- Curation Guidance: Guiding curation based on content gaps, data insights, or upcoming product features.
- User Needs Understanding: Understanding the needs of Hoopr's core users — Brands, Businesses & YouTubers.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Leveraging data and analytics to inform curation decisions.
- Content Trend Tracking: Keeping up with content trends on TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, etc., and adjusting programming accordingly.
- Thematic Campaigns: Driving thematic campaigns like 'Summer Essentials,' 'Creator Favorites,' or 'Top Songs for Gaming.'
- Playlist Optimization: Optimizing playlist placements and homepage content to increase track discovery, downloads, and licensing.
- Marketing Coordination: Coordinating with marketing for artist spotlights, new release pushes, or seasonal rollouts.
Requirements include 4–6 years of experience in music programming, editorial curation, or content strategy at a music-tech company, DSP, media platform, or similar. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of music genres, moods, and social media use cases, as well as proven ability to lead curation initiatives across multiple genres and formats.
