This is a challenging role that requires a skilled professional to manage and optimize Web Application Firewall (WAF) solutions to protect web applications from threats.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in both application security and network administration, with a proven track record of designing, implementing, configuring, and managing WAFs.

A key aspect of this role is collaboration with development and application teams to onboard new applications to WAF and ensure secure deployment.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for performing regular WAF log analysis to identify security incidents, false positives, and areas for policy refinement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Web Application Firewall Management:
  • Design, implement, configure, and manage WAFs to protect web applications against common attacks.
  • Develop, tune, and maintain WAF policies, rules, and signatures to detect and mitigate new and evolving threats.
  • Perform regular WAF log analysis to identify security incidents, false positives, and areas for policy refinement.
  • Collaborate with development and application teams to onboard new applications to WAF and ensure secure deployment.
  • Network Administration:
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Manage network routing and switching protocols.
  • Implement and maintain VPNs, network segmentation, and access controls.
  • Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and ensure high availability and optimal network health.
  • Perform network capacity planning and contribute to network architecture design.
  • Security & Troubleshooting:
  • Respond to and investigate security incidents related to WAF and network infrastructure.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and assist in penetration testing related to network and web application layers.
  • Provide expert-level troubleshooting for complex network and application security issues.
  • Documentation & Best Practices:
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for WAF configurations, network diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to industry best practices and internal security policies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in administering and managing WAFs.
  • Strong hands-on experience in network administration, including configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols, and switching protocols.
  • Solid understanding of web application security concepts.
  • Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA, CCNP Security, or relevant WAF vendor certifications.
  • Experience with cloud-based WAF solutions.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages for automation.
  • Knowledge of intrusion detection/prevention systems.
