Search Engineer

As a search engineer, you will play a key role in designing and implementing cutting-edge search solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and contribute to the development of innovative search features.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Elasticsearch or OpenSearch and experience with AI/LLM-based search experiences. They should also be proficient in Python and have expertise in building APIs using FastAPI. Additionally, they should have a deep understanding of search concepts, including analysers, tokenisers, relevance tuning, custom scoring, and query DSL.

The successful candidate will work closely with data engineers and product teams to deliver high-quality search experiences. They will be responsible for architecting and developing advanced search features, including custom query builders and search pipelines. They will also ensure the reliability and accuracy of search features through integration, regression, and performance testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement advanced search solutions using Elasticsearch/OpenSearch.
  • Develop custom query builders and search pipelines tailored to complex business requirements.
  • Ensure the reliability and accuracy of search features through testing and quality assurance.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:

  • 5+ years of experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch in production environments.
  • Experience with AI/LLM-based search experiences such as RAG, learning to rank, and query understanding.
  • Expert-level expertise in Python and experience building APIs using FastAPI.
  • Deep understanding of search concepts, including analysers, tokenisers, relevance tuning, custom scoring, and query DSL.
  • Proficiency in designing and optimising search pipelines and custom query builders.
