Senior Business Optimization Specialist

Delivering exceptional consulting solutions as a key member of the Process Optimization Team is paramount. This entails leveraging expertise in Real Time Optimization and USC Plan/Schedule tools to drive business value.

Process optimization is achieved by developing and implementing Real Time Optimization models for refineries and plants, involving design, development/configuration, and on-line closed-loop implementation of detailed process simulation models utilizing state-of-the-art real-time optimization development tools.

Additionally, our team excels in designing and building Planning/Scheduling models for Refineries/Petro Chemical/Plants that typically involve Design, Model Building, and implementation using state-of-the-art USC Planning and Scheduling tools.

We also specialize in creating Reconciliation and Yield Accounting models for Refineries/Petro Chemical/Plants, focusing on refinery balance, product and yield accounting using state-of-the-art Product Accounting tool.

Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or relevant field
• 4-10 years of industry experience
• 2-6 years of Refinery/Relevant Consulting Experience

Responsibilities:

• Ability to effectively communicate technical aspects to various audiences
• Demonstrate strong technical and communication skills to understand requirements and implement solutions meeting key business needs
• Collaborate with regional consultants/sales teams in technical aspects to deliver desired solutions
• Participate in all aspects of execution of optimization projects, ensuring timely and budget-friendly delivery while meeting customer expectations, reviewing process drawings and data, configuring and testing open-equation process models, automating model applications, and commissioning on-line process models at customer sites
• Develop various Real Time Optimization, Reconciliation, and Economic models using in-house process industry tools such as APO, APA & AUSC
• Analyze technical requirements, model building, and troubleshooting, perform economic and technical sensitivities to enhance products and meet client needs
• Develops and maintains expert-level knowledge of refining, petrochemical, and upstream production process requirements, features, and application of optimization technologies
• Assists in solution sales through presentations and proposal preparation, including scope definition, benefits analysis, cost estimate, and project schedule

Must-Have Skills:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, confident in presenting detailed technical topics to varied audiences and clients
• Thorough understanding of refining and refinery processes, with relevant experience in Trading, Planning, Scheduling, Refining, Process Optimization, or similar consulting experience
• Model building of process units/plants and performing techno-economical analyses using industry tools like RPMS, PIMS, Haverly, Petroleum Scheduler, or other LP Solutions
• Knowledge and experience in Process Simulation tools and ability to interpret process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams
• Understanding and knowledge of model predictive control
• Refinery Production Accounting (reconciliation) understanding
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Good commercial awareness
• Ready for travel to customer sites domestically and internationally

Desirable Skills:

• Software development experience and general understanding of databases, networks, and software architecture
• Ability to use C, C++, SQL
• Previous use of Spiral Software's CrudeManager, CrudeSuite, or Spiral Suite (Assay, Plan, Schedule, and Network)
• Experience with various Process Simulation and Optimization tools
• Exposure to Reconciliation and Product Accounting tools
