About the Role
  • As a Senior Virtualization Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and implementing VMware vSphere virtualization solutions to ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of our critical IT infrastructure systems.
  • You will be responsible for:
  1. Designing and implementing VMware vSphere virtualization solutions, including server consolidation, high availability, and disaster recovery.
  2. Configuring and maintaining VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, NSX appliances, and other VMware components.
  3. Monitoring virtual infrastructure performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing optimization strategies to ensure optimal resource utilization.
  4. Implementing and maintaining security measures for virtualized environments, including access controls, network segmentation (NSX), and VM isolation.
  5. Creating and maintaining documentation related to virtualization configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  6. Developing scripts using Bash, PowerShell, Ruby, or Python as a critical skill to continuously update and effectively monitor system stability and usability.
  7. Defining baselines for physical server hardware infrastructure (HP servers preferred).
  8. Implementing continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for infrastructure changes.
About the Team

Our team provides IT services to internal customers within Swiss Re. The Infrastructure Team consists of software developers, systems engineers, and information technology professionals. We provide high-quality infrastructure services and ensure smooth operation of critical platforms and business solutions.

About You
  • We're looking for someone with experience as a VMware Engineer or similar role, with expertise in designing and managing VMware vSphere environments.
  • Solid environment and configuration management skills; ability to maintain multiple baselines, e.g., Dev, Test, Prod.
  • Development experience with at least one infrastructure automation tool such as Terraform, Puppet, Ansible.
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, and preferably Python, Java, Ruby, Go).
  • Familiarity with VMware NSX for network virtualization and security.
  • Certified in VMware Certified Associate (VCA) or VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or Certified Design Expert (VCDX) or equivalent experience.
