Job Overview

The Steel and Metal Designer will be responsible for designing, developing, and prototyping furniture pieces made from steel, aluminum, and other metals.

This role involves close collaboration with the product development, engineering, and production teams to bring innovative metal furniture concepts to life—ensuring both visual appeal and structural integrity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop innovative steel furniture products such as tables, chairs, shelves, and storage units.
  • Prepare 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks.
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure designs are practical and feasible for production.
  • Perform structural analysis of steel furniture to ensure durability and stability.
  • Select materials and finishes based on aesthetic, functional, and cost considerations.
  • Conduct research on trends in furniture design and material innovation.
  • Develop prototypes for testing and modify designs based on feedback.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for sourcing materials and components.
  • Ensure designs meet safety standards, environmental regulations, and company specifications.
  • Assist in developing cost estimates for production, assembly, and materials.
  • Work with the marketing team to understand customer needs and incorporate feedback into designs.
  • Prepare technical documentation and design presentations for stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Essential: at least 5 years of experience as a Design Engineer in the steel furniture industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of material properties, particularly steel and other metals.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes for steel furniture (welding, cutting, bending, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A strong portfolio of previous design work is a plus.
