About Lady Andal House of Children

The organization is an established special school in Chennai, founded by a renowned institution with a long-standing and respected legacy in education.

Centrally located on a scenic campus, the school is dedicated to providing special education and vocational training for children and adults with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, and Down Syndrome.

The institution offers pre-vocational and vocational training programs, including the NIOS curriculum, and is supported by a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals providing physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy.

Who are we looking for

We are looking for a skilled Speech Therapist who is passionate about supporting diverse learners and fostering inclusive education. The ideal candidate will have expertise in developing and implementing Individualised Therapy Plans (IEPs), providing instructional support tailored to students' unique needs, maintaining thorough documentation and reporting, managing student behaviour effectively, and adapting curriculum to ensure accessibility and engagement for all learners.

Responsibilities include assessing students' speech, language, and communication abilities using standardised tests and informal evaluations, developing and implementing IEPs tailored to each student's specific needs and goals, providing one-on-one and group speech therapy sessions to improve articulation, fluency, language comprehension, and expressive communication, working closely with special education teachers, occupational therapists, psychologists, and parents to support integrated student development, monitoring and documenting students' progress and adapting therapy plans as needed, assisting in the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) tools when appropriate, educating and training staff and caregivers on communication strategies and support techniques, participating in IEP meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities, and maintaining detailed records and complying with all regulatory standards.

Key qualifications include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders, valid certification or license to practice as a Speech Therapist, 3-7 years of experience working with children and adults with multiple disabilities, experience working with children with special needs preferred, proficiency in English and Tamil, familiarity with assistive technology and specialised instructional strategies, patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills, and proficiency in using educational technology and assistive aids, devices, and ability to work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams.
